Gorilla Glass 3 FAIL

I’ve had my ASUS ZenFone 2 for a couple of months now. But for the first 3 weeks after I got it, I did not have a case or screen protector on it. If you look at phone specs, it has the much hyped Corning Gorilla Glass 3, supposedly virtually indestructible (I’m exaggerating a bit here).

Well … in my first 3 weeks of gentle use / testing the phone, there were over a 100 of small, and about 10 deep scratches. I did not have my keys in the same pocket as the phone, and I NEVER carry change (because I hate it), so I really do not know where all these scratches came from.

See for yourself in this HD video:

As you can see from the video, Gorilla Glass 3 does not live up to the hype, so I recommend installing a screen protector immediately as you get the phone, and also get a bumper case of some sort, unless you want to risk braking / damaging your brand new sparkling ASUS ZenFone 2.

Best of luck. In next post I will show you how I installed a Tempered Glass “shatter proof” screen protector on this phone. The glass screen protector costs only $8.99 on Amazon.

BTW, as you can conclude from this post / video – any glass will get scratched, so it’s better if it happens to a $9 piece of glass, rather than to irreplaceable main Gorilla Glass.

Best of luck with your ZenFone 2. Stay tuned for more reviews and subscribe to our Android Arena YouTube Channel
